Welcome to Garner Drake Residential Design, a family-owned residential design studio shaped by generations of construction, development, and design experience.

I’m Elizabeth Ashley Garner Drake, Owner and Creative Director. Growing up immersed in residential design, construction, and development gave me an early understanding of how homes take shape, how projects move from concept to construction, and what makes a design work in the real world.

Today, I carry that legacy forward alongside my husband and sons, through house plans and multifamily plans shaped by practical building knowledge, disciplined planning, and an understanding of how people live, how projects are built, and how designs perform in the market.

Our work continues the legacy of my grandfather, John Garner, a home builder, and my daddy, Rick Garner, a Certified Professional Building Designer, builder, and developer whose career was shaped by firsthand knowledge of how homes, multifamily projects, and residential and commercial developments move from concept to construction.

His perspective was shaped not only at the drafting table, but on job sites, through development work, and over decades of designing and seeing residential plans become built environments. That depth of experience established a practical, builder-aware approach to residential design that continues to shape our designs today.

As his daughter, I bring that foundation into a new generation through a perspective shaped by both the realities of construction and the lived experience of home. I believe thoughtful design should do more than create an attractive elevation or efficient floor plan. It should guide movement, support connection, offer restoration, and feel intuitive in daily life, while still responding to the practical demands of building, budgeting, marketability, and long-term value.
